‘Open Mic Night’ in West Palm Beach
March 28 @ 8:00 pm$10.00 – $20.00
The Joseph and Vera Douglas Family Foundation, Inc. (JVDFF) is a nonprofit based in Maryland that has one really active board member here in Palm Beach County–its Vice President Cordelia Jones–who has strong connections to Jamaicans. That’s important because the JVDFF serves at-risk communities in Jamaica by providing resources gathered here that are focused on education, health and entrepreneurship. The Foundation is hosting two fundraisers currently to support its work: one is an Open Mic Night that will be held tonight in West Palm Beach and, the other, a month-long fundraiser called Show Us Some Love that’s already started. The Open Mic Night will be held at the RBG House—that’s RBG as in Red Black and Green, as in the colors that represent Africa. There will be all sorts of performances—from spoken word to singing to drumming to comedy to dance. It starts at 8 p.m. and is meant to gather filled bookbags to take to Kingston, Petersfield and Egypt Gardens, different cities in Jamaica, for its needy students. Ticket prices are $20 without a book bag and $10 with a book bag. For more information or to donate, visit its website here or contact Ms. Jones at 561-239-7824 or email@example.com.
Now, the Show Us Some Love Giving Campaign began on Valentine’s Day, February 14, and continues through March 14. One entire month. Visit its website to give, visit its social media for more information or, again, contact Ms. Jones.
