African Drum Circle in WPB

January 16 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 7:00pm on Thursday, repeating until January 30, 2020

Create High Vibes With the Tribe. That’s a tag line for ‘Livin’ the Rhythm,’ a weekly African drum circle that is open to anyone interested in impromptu, percussive performance–and new faces. Of all ages. Some dancing. All beautiful. With free use of percussive equipment–get in it!–and interesting vendors. It happens at 7 p.m. each Thursday and, for the last nine years, had been held in the backyard of Harold’s Coffee Lounge in the historic Northwood neighborhood of West Palm Beach. Now, though, it is being held at an even more artsy place–the Youth Concepts Gallery, which is in the same neighborhood. The organizer is the very aware Abasi Hanif, who is a diaspora-connected educator and skilled drummer. The event is free and open to the public. And very different. In a great way.
